Māori & Pasifika Trades Training (MPTT) Scholarship

Free Māori and Pasifika trades training scholarships to launch a hands-on,
in-demand career.

Get practical skills, earn while you train, and build a career you can be proud of. Fees are covered for eligible Māori and Pasifika aged 16 to 40, with support into training and work.

About Lifeskills
Eligibility Criteria
  • Enrolled into a Lifeskills programme which has been approved for Māori & Pasifika Training Scholarship funding. Application only to be taken after full enrolment has been received.
  • Must identify on this enrolment that they are New Zealand Māori and/or of South Pacific descent, specific to the South Pacific Regions:

    Republic of Fiji, The Kingdom of Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands, Niue, Tokelau, Kiribati, Nauru, Tuvalu, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu
  • Must be a domestic student (NZ Citizen, Permanent Resident, Australian Citizen or Permanent resident currently residing in Auckland).
  • Must be aged between 16 – 40 (inclusive) at the start of their programme.
What the Scholarship Covers

The MPTT Scholarship will cover the cost of all compulsory tuition fees for the approved programme of enrolment.

Scholarship Application Requirements
  • Proof of enrolment in a Lifeskills programme approved for MPTT funding (Offer of Place)
  • Fully completed Scholarship Application form
  • Copy of CV
  • Completed MPTT Support Person Statement form
  • Personal statement outlining:
    • Why you should be considered for the scholarship
    • How you will successfully complete your programme (attendance, assessments, tutor and navigator communication)
    • Commitment and dedication to succeed if awarded the scholarship

How to Apply

Enrol in Programme
  • Complete full enrolment into a Lifeskills programme approved for MPTT funding
  • Obtain your official offer of place

  • Complete the MPTT Scholarship application form
All fully completed applications and supporting documents are to be emailed through to Josh Levi, with subject line: MPTT Scholarship Application.

Assessment & Interviews
  • Applications reviewed for completeness and accuracy
  • Selected applicants may be invited for interviews if scholarships are limited

Outcome Notification
  • Successful applicants informed via phone and email before programme start
  • Unsuccessful applicants informed by email at least two weeks prior
